Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, can also remember information on your device. This page explains how julianrachlin.com uses them and how to control optional services.
Your choices
On your first visit you can accept optional cookies, reject them, or choose your preferences. Necessary cookies remain active. Analytics and External videos are separate, optional choices and are off until you allow them.
You can change or withdraw consent at any time using Cookie settings in the footer or the consent button at the bottom left of the screen. Saving a choice reloads the page so the website applies it. The website normally asks again after 180 days, or sooner if your consent record is removed or the consent arrangements change.
Necessary cookies
CookieYes runs locally as a WordPress plugin and remembers your consent preferences. This is necessary to apply your choices and does not require optional cookie consent.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookieyes-consent | julianrachlin.com | Stores your consent choices and a consent identifier. | 180 days |
WordPress also uses necessary authentication and preference cookies for authorised website administrators. These are associated with signing in to manage the website, rather than ordinary public browsing.
Analytics, optional
With your permission, Google Analytics helps us understand visits and improve the website. The Google tag is held inactive until you enable Analytics. Rejecting analytics prevents it from loading. Google Consent Mode communicates your choices to the Google tag when it is enabled.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | julianrachlin.com / Google Analytics | Distinguishes browsers for website analytics. | Up to two years |
| _ga_* | julianrachlin.com / Google Analytics | Maintains visit and session information for a Google Analytics property. | Up to two years |
The asterisk represents the property-specific part of a cookie name. Actual expiry can be shorter because of browser settings and restrictions. Google explains its cookies in How Google uses cookies.
External videos, optional
Enabling External videos allows YouTube players and hover previews on the Video page to load. Until you allow this category, the gallery shows images hosted on this website and does not load the external players.
Players use youtube-nocookie.com. When you play a video, YouTube may store information in cookies or local storage to operate the player, remember playback preferences, and process viewing activity. The exact storage and duration depend on your browser, interaction and Google account settings. Local storage may remain until you or the service clears it. These technologies are controlled by YouTube and can change.
For details, see Google’s Privacy Policy and YouTube’s information about privacy-enhanced embeds. Withdraw permission through Cookie settings to prevent further players loading on this website.
Removing stored information
Your browser settings let you inspect or delete cookies and other site storage. Removing the consent cookie makes the banner appear again. Withdrawing permission stops future optional loading here; you may also need to clear existing third-party storage through your browser or Google account controls.
